Scape
and BabyScape Hood
The Scape and Baby Scape hoods represent the next generation
of
gas masks. These gas masks give a new meaning to the word "user
friendly".
Traditional gas masks employ face seals to protect the wearer,
require
multiple sizes to fit the wearer population, require extensive
training, do not
fit children or infants, and are ineffective for people with
beards and eye
glasses. The SCapeTM system technology eliminates all of these
issues.
When the product is removed from its package the integral blower
initiates automatically thereby providing positive pressure
and protection to the wearer.
This is a one-time-use escape hood, average run time exceeds
4 hours.
- No Training Required Simply Open and Put It On

The system is a positive pressure hood with an integral blower that
automatically comes on when the system is removed from the package.
This positive pressure feature provides enhanced protection for the
wearer. The SCape fits ages 3 through adult and the Baby SCape fits
ages birth to 3. In addition, the system has no mouthpiece or nosecup
to hinder communication. Lastly, the product was designed and is produced
by ILC Dover - NASA's space suit designer/producer and producer of the
M40 US military mask.
2. Can people with beards wear SCape?
Yes. The product is specifically designed to provide excellent protection
for individuals with beards and facial hair. The positive pressure supplied
by the blower and the comfortable neckdam seal create this protection.
3. Does the Scape work with eyeglasses?
Yes. Unlike most face seal masks, the SCape works with standard eyeglasses.
4. Can you talk while wearing a SCape?
Yes. Unlike hoods with nosecups or mouthpieces, the wearer can freely
talk in the SCape hood. The user can communicate with their family and
even effectively use a cell phone while wearing the SCape.
5. How long does it take to put the SCape hood on?
It normally takes less than 10 seconds.
6. Is the SCape hood made in the US?
Yes.
7. What sizes are available, and what range do they fit?
Adult size - fits ages 3-adult Baby SCape - fits birth to age 3
8. Tell me something about the blower.
The blower is made of an impact resistant polycarbonate. It includes
a battery which powers the blower for at least 4 hours, and also includes
an LED, which illuminates when the blower is operational (this is to
provide positive feedback to the hearing impaired).
